Petrochemical installations are extremely complex and pose a lot of challenges to their operators.

To meet these challenges, it is necessary to have at one’s disposal a precise technical description of the installation actual condition especially through an exhaustive data base in form of intelligent 3D Models and As-Built plans.

GEOMETRY is pioneer in offering, based on 3D laser scanning, engineering services for issuing intelligent As-Built 3D Models as well as P&ID and Isometric drawings with detailed Bill of Materials (BoM). The technology of 3D laser scanning enables to acquire geometrical information on the different equipments, pipework and instrumentation of the installation in a very short time and without any direct measurement on these components. The laser scanning generates a 3D point cloud describing with millimeter precision the whole installation which enables to minimize measurement time on site.

By vectorizing the 3D point cloud, we can reproduce an intelligent As-Built 3D model of the installation from which we can generate automatically the different other documents such as the P&ID and the isometric Drawings.

GEOMETRY offers also the possibility to model the equipments, the piping supports as well as the metallic structures of racks, stairs and the different levels.

This exhaustive 3D Model results in a comprehensive data base for the whole installation including the pipework, the equipments, the metallic structures and all other relevant components.

 

Furthermore, GEOMETRY offers several other derivative services of the 3D laser scanning of petrochemical installations such as:

  • The calculation with millimetre precision of XYZ coordinates and the direction of Tie-in points required as a preliminary for the design of any modification, revamping or extension of your installation.
  • The clash detection and analysis which allows to simulate the incorporation of new equipments in a certain position in the installation and to precisely predict possible collisions of the new equipment with existing elements.
